Material import / export

Postby sleipner » 20 Apr 2017, 15:13

As far as I can see the material import / export function can only export the whole database, not specific materials.
In addition it is not possible to see what is included in the exported file.

- The material database should be in a user readable format (xml preferred).
- It should be possible to choose what to import / export.

Hi,

Thank you for your input. I will check what we can do about this.

Meanwhile, you can actually save the Material library in xml format already now. When you Export, you can choose the .struxml format of the output file.

That .struxml file can be open in a simple notepad or an xml readed. There you can see all the materials in a tree view. You can use search function to identify different materials. You can also delete materials from that file. Just remeber to save it as the same file (not Save as..) in order to keep the struxml format type.

I'm sorry, but I don't manage to do so when trying to export timber materials.

Edit:
I actually know why you cannot export Timber panels library to struxml - Timber panels as objects are not implemented in struxml. The reason we developed struxml is the the echange of data with foreign programs like Tekla or Revit, and struxml format only contains objects that can be exchanged between those programs and FEM-Design. Timber panels, among few other objects, cannot be exchanged.

So I will keep your request and let's see if we can do anything about it.

Ohh, I see. Let me check why there is no option to export to struxml for Timber panels. I will get back to you.
