Warning when a joint type cannot take all internal forces

Postby StruSoft Iwona Budny » 31 Jan 2017, 14:52

FEM-Design 15.00.004

Since 15.00.004, a warning is displayed, if a chosen steel joint cannot handle all the internal forces in the node (in FEM-Design 3D Structure).

In this example there is only moment My in the joint node. If you however, apply a steel joint that cannot take the moment, e.g. BS5:

in Manual Design, you will see a warning that the selected joint type cannot handle all internal forces acting on the connected elements, and you can select another solution.

However, if for some reason you want to keep the chosen joint that cannot handle all the internal forces, and you wish not to print that warning in your report, you can choose to Hide warnings (in Display options in Detailed result).
